BYRON – Ladies, you do not want to miss the United Church of Byron’s first year of "Advent by Candlelight for Women."

The date is Dec 3, at the United Church of Byron. Call the church office at 815-234-8777 for tickets. Cost is $10 per person. This event is for ladies ages 13 and over. Doors open at 6 p.m. Program starts at 6:30 p.m. Get your tickets early as seating is limited and will not be sold at the door. Advent is the time for us to prepare our hearts for Jesus’ coming. We want our focus to be on Jesus throughout this season, but all too often it seems we get caught up with preparations in our homes, churches, and community. We have cleaning, decorating, shopping, baking and social events that become stressful, and take up our time.

Throughout this time, we can easily lose our focus during the busyness. "Advent by Candlelight" is an opportunity for women to set aside all of those preparations and focus our hearts and minds on Jesus. It is a time for women to relax and care for/enjoy each other’s company; all by candlelight.

The speaker for the evening will be Rev. Jacquie Fernandez-Lenati. She is a Unity ordained minister. Her ministerial passion is to inspire individuals to discover and live their own potential as a beloved child of God. Rev. Jacquie believes that the power of prayer is such that it must compel us to action. It is not enough to live as knowers of Truth, we must live the Truth we know through our thoughts, words, and actions. We become the "hands and feet of God" by living the ideals of unconditional love, equality, inclusion, environmental responsibility, and peace through our actions in our personal lives and as citizens of the world.

Rev. Jacquie works at Unity Worldwide Ministries, where she leads the media team in producing spiritually provocative digital media. An award-winning filmmaker and performing artist, Rev. Jacquie lives in Kansas City with her two daughters.

We will also have special music that evening, provided by Angelic Harpist, Nanette Felix.
