DIXON – Betty J. Bailey, 80, of Polo, passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at her home in Dixon. Betty was born, April 2, 1937, in Maryland Station, Ill., the daughter of William P. and Eldridge (McInturff) Peterson.

On Jan. 18, 1955, in Leaf River, she was united in marriage to Marvin J. Bailey (he preceded her in August of 2008).

Betty worked as a school bus driver for over 30 years with the Polo School District. Betty was a member of the Mount Morris Moose Lodge, #1551. Betty enjoyed going out on the boat fishing and making an occasional trip to the gambling boat to play the slots. She was a past member of the Christian Church and attended the Open Bible Church both in Polo. Betty also enjoyed traveling to Florida for the winter months and spending time with her extended friends and family. 

Survivors include daughters Judith (Vern) Rodgers of Taylorville, Ill.; sons Clinton (Georgia) Bailey of Port Richey, Fla., Gary (Zada) Bailey of Mount Morris, Roger (Crystal) Bailey of Dixon; grandchildren Jesse, Myria, Stephanie Bailey, Rachel, Kristina, Shane Bailey, Janette Crombie, Justin and Owen Bailey, David Schafer, Holly (Josh) Larson, Katie Schafer, Samantha (Stephen) Eckert, Andrew, Alex and Nick Rodgers, Brie Bergschneider; 19 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers Ted and Leonard “Jr” Peterson and Phillip.

Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 10-11 a.m. at Polo Family Funeral Home, 110 E. Dixon St., with service time at 11 a.m. Burial was at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden, Dixon, immediately following.

Arrangements have been completed by Polo Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established Serenity Hospice and Home.
