HOLCOMB – Charles W. Bloomingdale, 86, passed away Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 in Oregon, IL. Charles was born June 12, 1931 to Joseph E. and Edna Maria (Johnson) Bloomingdale in Belvidere.
He married Mary Louise Onley on Dec. 2, 1989 in Rockford. Charles owned and operated Bloomingdale Grinding Service for 20 years and he was the Scott Township Road Commissioner for 12 years.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: infant Karl, Joseph and Melvin Bloomingdale; Sister: infant Kristina Bloomingdale.
Charles is survived by his wife, Mary, of Holcomb; five children: Glenda Bloomingdale-Livingston of Davis Junction, Lesa (Doug) Hopkins of Holcomb, Mark (Mary) Bloomindale of Holcomb, Mary (Randy) Jones of Oregon, and Elena (Melvin) Sullivan of Lexington, Texas; three brothers: Marvin Bloomingdale of Belvidere, Dennis (Terry) Bloomingdale of Harlingen, Texas and Bruce (Linda) Bloomingdale of Rockford; two sisters: Iona (James) Holton of Machesney Park, and Ila (Everett) Kelley of Rockford; and many many grand, great grand and great great grandchildren.
The visitation was from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the funeral home with Pastor David Rogula officiating. The burial followed the service at Trinity Memory Gardens.
