OREGON – Dean Johnson, 89, lifelong Oregon resident, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 in Serenity Hospice Home, Oregon after a short illness. Born Sept. 23, 1928 in Oregon, the son of Samuel and Mary (Holmes) Johnson.

He was a 1946 graduate of Oregon High School. Married to Melva Jean Lindahl June 20, 1953 in Oregon. Dean was a maintenance machinist at Quaker Oats in Oregon until its closing and then at Elco Tool in Rockford until retiring in 1990. He enjoyed wood carving and working in his yard.

Survived by his wife, Melva Jean of Oregon; son, Bruce (Teresa) Johnson of Oregon; daughter, Christine (Ron) Ware of Mount Morris; grandchildren: Sarah (Mike) Rutlin, Jessica (Ted) Hade, Joseph Cox, Jr., Adam Cox, Aaron (Lexi) Johnson and Abby ( Justin Cotton) Johnson; great grandchildren: Andrew, Skye, Cheyenne, Oren, Silas, Brennan and Landon.

Predeceased by his parents and sister, Georgia Draugelis.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon preceded by a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor David Rogula officiated. Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery, rural Oregon. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dean's name may be made to Serenity Hospice & Home, Oregon.
