STILLMAN VALLEY – Jean E. Ungar, 77, of Stillman Valley and formerly of Des Plaines and Crystal Lake, died suddenly Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018 in Swedish-American Hospital, Rockford. Born Oct. 29, 1940 in Chicago, the daughter of Nelson and Helen (Brown) Thompson.

She was a 1959 graduate of Glenbrook High School in Glenview. Married to Allen Ungar April 19, 1969 in Evanston. Jean worked as a credit clerk for Goldblat's Department Store and later as a microfilm tech for Lawson Products in Des Plaines. She was active in the PTA and Girl Scouts in Des Plaines and a member of the Stillman Valley Lions Club. Jean enjoyed cooking and travelling by car.

Survived by her husband Allen Ungar of Stillman Valley; son, David (Lisa) Ungar of Lake in the Hills; daughters, Dawn (Jim) Vessels of McHenry and Dina (Jack) Clark of West Chicago; grandchildren: Harrison Ungar, Steven and Jarek Clark, Timothy and Heidi Vessels and Diane (DJ) Freeman; great grandchildren, Holly Vessels and Jackson and Arabelle Freeman; sister, Carole Hauslein of Mt. Prospect; sister-in-law, Alva Thompson of Mundelein; brother-in-law, Daniel Ungar of Stillman Valley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Predeceased by her parents; brother, James Thompson; and brother-in-law, Ralph Hauslein.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday March 2 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Stillman Valley with Pastor Andrew Kayes of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Paynes Point officiating. Burial in Stillman Valley Cemetery. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials in Jean's name may be made Stillman Valley Lions Club or Autism Speaks.
