Larry C. Spaulding

Byron – Larry C. Spaulding, age 74, of Byron passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. He was born in Belvidere on July 29, 1943 the son of Ronald and Thelma (Yerke) Spaulding.

After graduating from Marengo High School; Larry continued his education by getting his Bachelor’s degree from ISU. He then went on to earn his Master’s from NIU. Larry worked as a teacher in the Byron School District for many years. His love for the Byron Tigers never faded even after retiring. He continued to serve as a coach, groundskeeper, and mentor to many young baseball players and kids. When he wasn’t cheering on the Tigers he was cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs and enjoyed going shooting on the farm with his son. Above all Larry was a devoted grandfather who always put his grandchildren first. He would make every event of theirs that he could and loved them unconditionally.

Larry is survived by his sons, Reed (Karen) Spaulding of Byron, Randall (Kima) Spaulding of Villa Park, and Curtis (Andrea) Spaulding of Rockford; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Brandon) Truckenmiller, Hunter Lemke, Quintin Spaulding, Brenna Lemke, Ryder Spaulding, Bryson Spaulding, Faith Spaulding, Noah Spaulding, Roman Spaulding, Zackery Rouse, Ashlynne Spaulding, and Gabriella Spaulding; and great grandson, Zane.

He is predeceased by his parents and brother Lynn.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant St., Byron. Visitation was held Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are established in his name.
