OREGON – Lois J. Medlar, 92, lifelong Oregon resident, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2017 in Oregon Living & Rehabilitation Center. Born July 19, 1925 in Oregon, the daughter of John and Muriel (Stoffregen) Long.

Married to Gene Medlar May 21, 1955 in Oregon; he died May 25, 2017.

Lois was a 1943 graduate of Oregon High School and worked for many years for Dr. Swan in his medical practice in Oregon. She was a member of Oregon United Methodist Church for over 60 years where she also taught Sunday School and was a member of Oregon VFW Women’s Auxiliary. Lois was best known for her love of children and ran a day care from her home.

Survived by her son, Terry (Vickie) Medlar of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; daughter, Sharon Bocker of Oregon; grandchildren: Troy (Laura) Medlar of Maryville, Ohio, Ashley Wineman of Alliance, Ohio, Shanna Blankenship of Rockford, Cari Gomer of Cummings, Ga., and Bradley Bocker of Chana; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Also predeceased by her parents; brothers: Sylvan, George, Wendell, Harold and Robert Long; and sisters: Bernice Ostrander, Rogene Dvorak, Florence Wiebenga and Marjorie McGinnis.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon preceded by a visitation beginning at noon. Pastor David Rogula officiated. Private family burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Mount Morris. Memorials in Lois’ name may be made to Oregon United Methodist Church or Serenity Hospice & Home, Oregon.
