MOUNT MORRIS – Lola J. Duncan, age 99, passed away on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mount Morris. Lola was born Nov. 3, 1917 in Leaf River, the daughter of Galen and Carrie (Fisher) Blake.
She graduated from Mount Morris High School class of 1932. Lola married Robert L. Duncan in February 1937 in Mount Morris. She was a member of Disciples United Methodist Church, Mount Morris. A highlight for Lola the last 50 years was the Sunday Family dinners. She was a fabulous cook, seamstress, quilter, loved to crochet, her time with friends playing cards, and spending time with her family. Her treasured time was with her immediate and extended family members. Lola was known for her homemade caramels and English toffee during Christmas time throughout many generations.
Lola is survived by son: Steven Duncan, Mount Morris; daughters: Barbara Satterfield, DeKalb, Marion (John) Thompson, Mount Morris, and Linda ( Gary) Nesemeier, Byron; 10 grandchildren: Vicki (Garry) Greenlee, Robin (Ted) Lawrence, Jill (Jim) Baenziger, Carrie Satterfield, Mike (Gwen) Satterfield, Kim Duncan, Tammy Knott, Jack (Suzanne) Thompson, Fred Nesemeier, Kathy (Thom) Foster; 19 great grandchildren; 18 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lola is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Robert L. Duncan in 1994; granddaughter: Heidi-Brooke Ann Tintori; brother: Arnold “Beanie” (Doris) Blake and Harold “Pete” Blake; sister: Ruby Ridenour Hagemann.
Funeral service were held Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. in Disciples United Methodist Church, Mount Morris, with Rev. Julie Bunt officiating. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Mount Morris. Visitation was held on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 from 10 a.m. until service time in the Disciples United Methodist Church, Mount Morris.
