MOUNT CARROLL – Lyle D. Wright of Mount Carroll, formerly of Oregon, died Sunday, March 4, 2018 in His home. Lyle was the son of Harry “Pete” and Minnie Helman Wright. 

He married Fonda M. Burkhart on Feb. 10, 1968. The couple had recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. Lyle was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who fondly remembered his service at Orly International Airport in Paris, France where he met and conducted several distinguished visitors to the region. He was an avid storyteller, who enjoyed the outdoors. Spending time with his family was very important to Lyle. He also enjoyed gardening, painting and his dragon collection. Lyle cared for all animals and was especially fond of his Shih Tzu Tinker. Lyle worked at the piano factory in Oregon for 19 years and at Imeco, Inc. in Polo for 12 years. He was a certified Barber like his father. 

He is survived by his wife Fonda, daughter Vickie Shade of Mount Morris, son Lyle “Vince” (Julie) Wright of Oregon, daughter Julie (Jim) Randall of Wichita, Kan., daughter Angela (Brad) Field of Mount Carroll, and son Dennis (Sherri) Wright of Mount Morris, grandchildren; Danielle Schier, Brandy Moser, Brett Meyers, Dexter Wright, Robert Toomsen, Shalane Toomsen, Kyle Field, Breanne Field, Matthew Wright, Brooke Wright, Allison Wright, and Hannah Wright, 8 Great Grandchildren and a great great grandchild expected this spring, brother Darrell (Therese) of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and sisters; Mary Lu Kessling and Virginia Hoar of Roscoe. 

He was preceded in death by his sisters Flora and Mildred, brothers Arlen “Art” and Clarence Wright, and half siblings Roland Wright, Alan Dietzman, and Lois Wright Thompson. 

Funeral service was Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street, Oregon, with the Pastor Vince Wilczynski of the Mount Carroll Church of God officiating. Visitation was prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lightsville Cemetery near Leaf River. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is established for the FHN Hospice in Freeport.
