BYRON – Margaret A. Campbell, age 96, of Byron went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 6, 2017. She was born on Sept. 8, 1921 in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of James and Anna (Pohl) Horning.

She married Milton Campbell in July 1941. He passed away on Oct. 10, 1966. She moved to the Byron area from Villa Park in 1999. Margaret was quite the character and full of personality. She was very candid and enjoyed conversation. This vivacious attitude made her quite the beloved resident of Pinecrest in Mount Morris. Margaret was a member of the Women’s VFW Auxiliary in Addison, and a former volunteer at the Byron Forrest Preserve. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Byron.

She is survived by her children, Catherine “Cay” (Mark) Cheatham of Wax Haw, N.C., Cecelia (Glenn) Brendel of Rockford, Curtis Campbell, and Casey Campbell;  grandchildren, Virginia Rynk, Michael (Dana) Rynk, Daniel Rynk, Ayn (Tim) Coleman, Michael Brendel, and John (Amanda) Brendel; and great grandchildren, Bailey, Katelyn, Lauren, Paul, and Shane.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Colleen, and two sisters.

Funeral mass was held on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Byron, with Father Barch officiating. Burial will be held on a later date at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
