BYRON – Michael E. Lingel, age 60, passed away on July 5, 2017 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. He was born on Feb. 11, 1957 in Rockford, the son of Theodore and Helen Lingel.
Michael married Mary Meador Ruble in Brookville Church on Sept. 15, 2001. He was a member of Heartland Community Church in Rockford. Michael liked guns and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed camping in his spare time and was a member of the Good Sam Club. Michael was a proud member of the Loyal Order of the Moose 1551 and was part of Moose Legion 57. He adored his family and his fur babies Amanda and Dewey.
Michael is survived by his wife, Mary Lingel of Byron; mother, Helen Lingel of Kansas City, Mo.; children, Christina (Mathew) Reese of Kansas City, Mo., Leonda (Aaron) Sipe of Savanna, and William Lingel of Olatha, Kan.; step children, Jason (Ashley Lott) Ruble of Lanark, and Chad Ruble of Lanark; siblings, Lorna Lingel and Toni Lingel both of Parkville, Mo.; and grandchildren, Briana, Trinity, Taylor, Kody, Matthew, and Thomas.
He is preceded in death by his father.
An open house celebration of life will be held at the Mount Morris Moose Lodge on Friday July 21, 2017 starting at 4 p.m. with cousin Linda Johnson speaking at 6 p.m. and Loyal Order of the Moose Ritual immediately following. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
