BYRON – Randal L. Bishop, 52, of Byron, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 14, 2017 in Mercy Hospital, Rockford. He was born Dec. 19, 1964 in Chicago the son of Lawrence and Linda (Zehnder) Bishop.
He was a graduate of Gordon Tech High School and served in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He married Helen “Toni” Noah in Chicago on Sept. 10, 1989. Randal was a mechanic for J.X. Peterbilt in Rockford and was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron. He was very active with the Boy Scouts of America in the White Eagle District of the Blackhawk Area Council. He also enjoyed Scuba diving, but the love of his life was his granddaughter, Katie. She, along with his children, was who he wanted to spend time with.
Survivors include, his wife “Toni”; daughter, Rebecca of Byron; sons, David (Brooke), currently serving with the Marines in Hawaii, Richard and Dylan, both of Byron; granddaughter, Catherine “Katie”; parents, Lawrence & Linda Bishop of Chicago; sister, Crystal (Lorenzo) Silvestre of Joliet; and brothers, Daniel (Pauline) Bishop of Lake Geneva, Wis., and Kendal (Elizabeth) Bishop of Melrose Park. Also survived by his parents-in-law, Sophie and Earl Watkins of Byron and brother-in-law, John (Kerrie) Noah of St. Charles.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services were held Thursday May 18, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in All Saints Lutheran Church, 624 Luther Dr, Byron, IL 61010 with Pastor Janet Wold officiating. Visitation was at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials may be directed to the Boy Scouts of America.  Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Byron assisted the family with arrangements.
