BYRON – Romanie J. Marshall, 71, longtime resident of Byron, died Saturday April 22, 2017 at Swedish-American Hospital, Rockford. She was born Aug. 13, 1945 in Jackson, Ky., the daughter of Lee and Berti (Fugate) Campbell.
She married Garey L. Marshall in Kentucky on July 3, 1963; he died in 2001. Family was most important to Romanie. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She especially enjoyed her 5-way phone conversations with her sisters every night. Her other interests included movies and Facebook; and she loved to talk about her recent trip to Florida to see Disney World and the ocean.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia (Terry) Weil of Mount Morris; sons, Dwayne (Nancy) of Amboy and Kenneth (Rebecca) of Rockford; grandchildren, Joey Miller, Nicholas Marshall, Kristine Marshall, Alexandra Kelly, Danielle Grimley, and Andrew Marshall;  great grandchildren, Sara, Skyler, and Simona Miller, and David James McCoy, Jr.; sisters, Luvernia (John) Neace, Snowy Mae Gayhart, Geneva (Don)  Baker, and Becky (Charlie) Miller; and brothers, Hobert (Sharon) Campbell, Roy Ray (Susie) Campbell, Lee (Darlene) Campbell, Jr., Ola (Alberta) Campbell, and Cornelius (Janice) Neace.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Lewis, Jessie, Omer, and Herman.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant St., Byron. Visitation was held Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Byron Cemetery.
