BYRON – Ronald Walter Stukenberg, 80, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 surrounded by family at Pinecrest Terrace Nursing Home. Ron was born Aug. 18, 1937 to Walter and Lena (Bocker) Stukenberg near Byron.

He attended Whitaker Country School and graduated from Byron High School. Ron then graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign with a degree in agriculture. Ron farmed and raised hogs most of his life south of Byron. After retiring from farming, he worked as a security guard at Exelon Nuclear Plant near Byron. Ron enjoyed camping at Stronghold, fishing, and drinking coffee with his friends at the coffee shop.

He is survived by his children, Randy (Susan) Stukenberg, Byron, and Jill (Don) Williams, O’Fallon, Mo.; grandchildren, Jacob (Marcy) Stukenberg, Villa Park, Katie Stukenberg, Villa Park, Brady, Bryan, and Bennett Williams, O’Fallon, Mo.; sisters, MarJean Miller, Leaf River, Bev Love, Byron, and Dianne (Larry) Jones, Ames, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents; brother, LaVerne Stukenberg; and sisters, LaNore Fegan, Delores Wahl, Gloria Winterton and niece, Debra (Miller) Nielsen.

The family would like to thank the Pinecrest Terrace staff for their wonderful and loving care during his stay.

Cremation rights accorded. Memorial service will be Saturday, Dec. 30, at 11a.m. at the Red Brick Church, 207 W. Roosevelt St., Stillman Valley, IL 61084 with visitation from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial in Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be established for Pinecrest Community, Mount Morris, and Byron Museum of History, Byron.
