OREGON – Spend a pleasant morning or afternoon at Sand Ridge exploring the beauty of nature and helping to protect it.
On Saturday, July 8, and Wednesdays, July 12 and 26, the Prairie Preservation Society of Ogle County (PPSOC) will host a morning or afternoon of service learning and enjoyment in the prairie.
From 9-11 a.m. on Saturday and 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, visitors will have the opportunity to help maintain the sand prairie, which is known as the finest in this part of Illinois. Undesirable plants and weeds will be removed and seeds will be collected. Following that, a walk through the area will be led by a knowledgeable PPSOC member.
Enjoy the beautiful flowers in bloom; delight to the scents and sounds of nature. Light refreshments will be provided. Children are welcome. No reservations are needed. Wear long pants and sleeves, and bring gloves and sunscreen.
Sand Ridge is located at 2879 S. Daysville Rd., Oregon.
