BYRON – William “Bill” Busser, age 86, of Byron passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Sept. 14, 1931 in Chester, S.D., the son of Henry and Martina (Boone) Busser.

He married Susan Wolfe on July 23, 1969. Bill worked for many years as a spray painter for Matteson Machine Works in Rockford. He was proud United States Marine Corps veteran and was the Commander of the American Legion Hall in Byron. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, gardening, and keeping his yard clean and neat. His main focus in his life was his family. He will be remembered as a soft spoken and helpful man who would do anything for anyone.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan of Byron; children, Arlen (Kathy) Busser of Lena, Linda (Mike) King of Freeport, and Darryl (Jaime) Busser of Pearl City; brother, Neal (Betty) Busser of Colton, S.D.; grandchildren, Amanda (Shawn Kubatzke) Busser, Nate (Chelsea McKee) Busser, Michelle Lynn (Mark) Jones, Tina Jo (William) Doyle, Jessica (Joel) Christiansen, and Andrew (Jennifer) Busser; great grandchildren, Jaxon, Jessa, Melinda, Tiffany, Michael, Jolee, Stacy, William, Alexis, Joely, Brianna, Jennifer, Dayne, and Liam; and great-great grandson, Lucas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Eugene Busser, granddaughter, Stacy Lee King, and siblings, Arie Busser and Aleida Groos.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Byron with Pastor Randy Snider of Cornerstone Family Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the funeral home and again from 1:30 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday. Burial will be at the Byron Cemetery. A memorial fund is established in his name.
