Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: Jan. 23-25, 2024

OREGON — On Jan. 23 at 11:58 a.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 8,000 block of North Kishwaukee Road.  As a result, Karina F. Canizal, 34, of Rockford was arrested for driving while license revoked. Canizal was additionally issued citations for operating a motor vehicle with registration/suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and possession of cannabis/improper container/driver. Canizal was transported to the Ogle County Jail and released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

On Jan. 24 at approximately 12:52 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Town Line Road and Illinois Route 2. After investigation, deputies placed Bradford Reiners, 43, of Rockford, under arrest for no valid driver's license. Reiners was additionally issued a citation for improper lane usage. Reiners was released on a notice to appear at the scene and given a future court date.

On Jan. 24 at approximately 7:10 p.m. deputies along with Oregon Fire/EMS Department responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 6,000 block of South Lowden Road.  After a brief investigation, it was learned that Nikhil Rayala, 26, of Macomb was traveling northbound when two deer ran in front of his vehicle. Due to the dense fog, Rayala was unable to observe the deer until very close to striking them. Rayala swerved off of the roadway before striking a significant amount of snow and the ditch where his vehicle sustained extensive front-end damage. Rayala was evaluated by Oregon EMS and released from the scene.   

On Jan. 25 at approximately 8:23 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of West
Illinois Route 72, Leaf River. After an investigation, Patrick M. Homeyer, 48, of Leaf River, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Homeyer was also cited for speeding and unsafe backing on a roadway. Homeyer was transported to the Ogle County Jail before being released on a notice to appear.

On Jan. 25 at approximately 7:02 p.m. deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 2,000 block of South Illinois Route 2. After further investigation, deputies arrested Bret Cooksey, 63, of Rock Falls, for driving while license suspended. Cooksey was released on a notice to appear.

All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
