Oregon softball shuts out River Ridge

The Oregon High School softball team shut out River Ridge for a 13-0 win, scoring seven runs in the first inning. Ella Dannhorn totaled three hits, while five players including Abree Barker, Kaelin Shaffer, Madi Shaffer, Emma Schlichtmann and Brooke Halverson each had hits. Schlichtmann and Halverson combined to throw a one-hit shutout in the victory.

Polo baseball falls against Lena-Winslow

The Polo High School baseball team fell 6-3 against Lena-Winslow on Saturday, March 16. Gus Mumford went 3-for-3 with one RBI to lead the Marcos on offense, while Nolan Hahn threw three and one-third innings on the mound, allowing only one run with two strikeouts. 

Oregon girls soccer wins Harvard tournament

The Oregon High School girls soccer team defeated North Boone 2-0 and Harvard 3-0 to win its road tournament in Harvard and start the season with a 2-0 record. Teagan Champley scored two goals and added two assists, while Mya Engelkes scored two goals and Deborah Schmid chipped in one goal and one assist. Anna Stender and Noelle Girton each had assists. 

Polo softball loses against Lena-Winslow

The Polo High School softball team lost 6-1 against Lena-Winslow on Saturday, March 16. Karlea Frey reached base four times with three hits, while Sydnei Rahn added two hits in four at-bats. Allissa Marschang finished with two hits and both Cheyenna Wilkins and Cam Jones notched hits. Jones threw four innings in relief, striking out eight batters with one walk.

Oregon girls soccer cruises over South Beloit

The Oregon High School girls soccer team cruised over South Beloit 11-0 behind four goals and three assists from Deborah Schmid. Kenna Wubbena added two assists and one goal, while Mya Engelkes, Arianna Hammer, Addison Rufer, Aniyah Sarver, Emily Watters, Anna Stender, Sarah Eckardt and Alease McLain all had one goal. The Hawks improved to 3-0.

Polo baseball suffers shutout loss to Galena

The Polo High School baseball team lost 11-0 against Galena on Tuesday, March 19. Gus Mumford totaled the lone hit for the Marcos in the loss.

Oregon softball dominates Indian Creek

The Oregon High School softball team took down Indian Creek 10-0, with Madi Shaffer totaling three hits and Sarah Stevens adding two hits. Gracen Pitts belted a two-run homer in the first inning and Emma Schlichtmann struck out eight batters in four innings pitched. Alexi Czochara added three strikeouts in one inning. 

Polo softball falls against Galena

The Polo High School softball team fell 9-7 against Galena. Sydnei Rahn recorded two singles, while Allissa Marschang singled and Cam Jones singled. Cheyenna Wilkins added a double and Jones struck out 11 batters in the pitcher’s circle.
