A place for moms

OREGON – The class is full of smiles – from the children to the adults – and plenty of movement.

Leading this Zumbini class at the ADM Studios in Oregon is Krystal Casey, who apparently has enough energy for six people. She and the moms and children in attendance clap and move and sway to the music.

“They love it,” Casey, who along with her husband, Aric, owns the business, said of the kids and the moms. “It’s so much fun.”

The ADM Studios, which stands for American Dream Makers, opened at 208 W. Washington St. on June 15. But it was quite a journey to that opening for Casey. She was an “Army brat,” so she never really had a single place to call home. She said that she and Aric, who met in middle school, moved to Oregon seven years ago.

“This is where we settled down and started our family,” she said, adding that they now have four children.

Casey said after marriage, she went from being an independent person to being more isolated, and was looking for a way to make connections.

“I kept looking for a place to connect with other women, and moms like me, and it was kind of hard,” she said, adding that most groups focused more on the kids.

So, she opened a business that focuses on those connections.

The ADM Studios says it is a wellness center for women, and it offers a variety of activities, from dance fitness classes to a variety of yoga classes and the upcoming Barre fitness classes.

The studio is also available for rent for events.

And don’t forget the Zumbini class, which focuses on moms and kids ages 0-4 – although older kids are welcome.

“That is our mommy and me class,” Casey said.

While she has instructors for other classes, like yoga, she runs the Zumbini class herself.

“I actually trained for this class when I decided to open the studio because it promotes bonding between the mom and the child, and it’s fun for mom as well as for the kids,” she said.

Casey said response to the business has been good so far, and that she is, “kind of learning as I go.”

But the work is paying off, which ties in with the name. She said you can accomplish your goals if you work hard.

“American Dreams do come true.”
