STILLMAN VALLEY – Ann L. Spaulding, age 73, of Byron passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Generations at Neighbors in Byron. She was born in Rockford, on July 6, 1944 the daughter of Alfred and Phyllis (Ackra) Levey.

She graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Millikin University and her master’s degree from NIU. Ann loved children and that showed as she dedicated her life to teaching elementary students in Byron, Franklin Center and Verona, Wis., and was also a swim instructor. She was concerned about others and took a sign language course so that she could better communicate with the hearing impaired. She was a great photographer, enjoyed gardening, and loved dogs; especially her dog Sunny. She was a reader and was part of a book club at the Julia Hall Library in Stillman. But, above all she was a devoted and loving grandmother.

Ann is survived by her sons, Reed (Karen) Spaulding of Byron, Randall (Kima) Spaulding of Villa Park, and Curtis (Andrea) Spaulding of Rockford; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Brandon) Truckenmiller, Hunter Lemke, Quintin Spaulding, Brenna Lemke, Ryder Spaulding, Bryson Spaulding, Faith Spaulding, Noah Spaulding, Roman Spaulding, Zackery Rouse, Ashlynne Spaulding, and Gabriella Spaulding; great grandson, Zane; brothers, Jim (Evelyn) Levey of Bremerton, Wash., and Richard (Jennifer) Levey of Mesa, Ariz.; nieces and nephew, Melinda, Cynthia, Hannah, And David; and special cousin Sherri.

She is predeceased by her parents.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her wonderful neighbors who were always available to give her a helping hand.

Funeral services were held Friday June 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant St., Byron with Pastor Randy Snider officiating.
