BYRON – Anna Mae Carlson, 97, longtime Byron resident, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday Aug. 9 in Mercy Health Center, Rockford. Born March 20, 1920 in Black Earth, Wis., the daughter of Alfred and Esther (Lundell) Mickelson.
She was a graduate of Black Earth (Wis.) High School and Swedish Covenant School of Nursing and practiced private duty nursing in Rockford for several years. Married to Elmer W. Carlson Aug. 15, 1942 in Palmyra, Mo.; he preceded her in death Oct. 16. Anna Mae was a member of Cornerstone Family (formerly First Baptist) Church of Byron where she was a Deaconess and church organist for over 50 years.
Survived by sons, John W. (Jody) Carlson of Pecatonica and William E. (Kathleen) Carlson of Byron; daughter, Carol Anne (Hubert) Zull of Byron; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
Also predeceased by her parents; brothers, Ronald, Carroll and Earl; and sister, Francis.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 in Cornerstone Family Church of Byron preceded by a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. in the church; Pastor Randy Snider, of the church, will officiate. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Anna Mae's name may be made to Rockford Rescue Mission or Cornerstone Family Church. The family extends special thanks for their loving care to the staff of Wesley Willows, Dr. Craig Rogers, E3 staff at Mercy Health and Paula at Mercy Hospice. Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Byron assisted the family with arrangements.
