OREGON – The Ogle County Board appointed Tiffany O’Brien as Treasurer/Collector at its June 21 meeting.
O’Brien was appointed to replace Linda Beck, who is resigning the office effective June 30 because she is moving to Florida.
Board Chairman John Finfrock read a proclamation declaring June 30 Linda Beck Day in the county. Board members gave her a standing ovation after the presentation.
“During my time as treasurer, I have had many rewarding experiences and have had to overcome many challenges due to COVID,” Beck said in a separate interview. “I will cherish the friendships with county employees that I have made over the years and appreciate the support from the County Board during my time as Treasurer. I want to thank the citizens of Ogle County for the great opportunity they have given me as their county treasurer.”
O’Brien will take over the position on July 1. She is running unopposed in Tuesday’s Republican primary.

The Board approved a $42,500 grant to the Mount Morris Fire Protection District. The money will be used for planning costs as the district moves toward building a new firehouse. The overall projected cost is $3.5 million for the new building. The district is currently using a building that was built when Calvin Coolidge was president, according to Fire Chief Rob Hough.
