Byron swim, dive team has solid week

BYRON — The Byron High School co-op swimming and diving team faced Harlem on Thursday, Feb. 18. The varsity team won 91-74 while the JV team won 8-4.
Byron’s 200-yard medley relay team of Levi Schamper, Nathan Bell, Carson Faley and Tyson Politsch won with a time of 1:45.71. Adam Goelitz won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.03 while Faley won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:02.29. Bell took second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.32 seconds.
Schamper won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.58 and Goelitz won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.23. Caleb Weekley placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:09.77 and Faley won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.31.

Bell won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.76. Byron’s 200-yard freestyle relay of Faley, Goelitz, Bell and Politsch won with a time of 1:36.92 while Byron’s 400-yard freestyle relay team of Goelitz, Schamper, Nolan Stoll and Kaenan McDevitt won in 3:57.14.
The Byron High School co-op swimming and diving team battled Rockford Christian and Rockford Guilford on Saturday, Feb. 20. Byron topped both teams, winning 105-52 over Christian and 100-72 against Guilford.
Carson Faley won the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 27.35 seconds and Adam Goelitz won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.23. Nathan Bell won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:12.33 and Faley won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.01.
Bell won the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 29.90 and Faley won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.57. Tyson Politsch won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.58 and Goelitz won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:21.83.
Bell won the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 58.64 and Faley won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.88. Levi Schamper won the 50-yard butterfly in 25.70.
