MOUNT MORRIS – Carol J. Crum, 76, passed away on June 27, 2017 at KSB Hospital in Dixon  after a short illness. Born July 6, 1940, the daughter of James B. Overman and Ila (Blevins) Overman, in Hamlin, Iowa.
Attended Iowa schools, and Rockford Business College. Married Bruce W. Crum Jr. on Sept. 26, 1959 at the United Methodist Church in Belvidere. Carol and her husband were the owners/operators of “The Idle Hour Bar” in Mount Morris from 1992 to 2008. Carol moved to Mount Morris from the Belvidere area. Carol was a devoted Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. She also enjoyed reading and bird watching from her back porch.
Survivors include daughters, Becky (John) Griffith of Florida, Cassie Stevens of Rockford, and Peggy (Fred) Reynolds of Winnebago; son, James Crum of Byron; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and sister Lee McBride of Minnesota.
Predeceased by her husband, parents, seven brothers, and one sister.
There will be no visitation or memorial service as per Carol’s request. Cremation at Finch Funeral Home in Mount Morris.
