BYRON – After a brutal winter, it’s April and gardening season is finally here.
Once again, the Community Garden located at the United Church of Byron, is offering four by eight foot raised bed garden plots for a suggested donation of twenty dollars. Four-foot square wheel chair- accessible raised beds are also available for a suggested donation of $10. Those beds are accessible on all sides from the wheel chair.
New for this year will be the addition of a pollinator garden that will be located to the north of the raised beds. Also expanded composting bins will be available.
Last year’s growing season was very successful with many pounds of fresh produce grown. Sign-up sheets and plot layout diagrams are located at the UCB church office. For more information, you can call the UCB church office, 815-234-8777 or Norm Metz at 815-289-1132.
