Community supports reading program

MOUNT MORRIS – The Mount Morris Community Library Foundation (MMCLF) is pleased and thankful for the support of its members and the community who embraced the Foundation’s latest 9x9x9 program for young readers.

The program, started last year by first grade teacher, Dawn Merrill was coordinated this year by the Foundation.

The 9x9x9 program through donations will benefit each of the first graders from Mt. Morris and Oregon who attend Oregon Elementary School. These students will each receive nine books, one per month during the 2019-2020 school year.

By providing books to these new readers, we hope to instill the love of books and reading in each of them by helping them to begin building their own personal libraries.

It is the Foundation’s hope to continue this program for many years to come with the community’s support. Donations can be made year-round with checks made payable to Mt. Morris Community Library Foundation (MMCLF) and 9x9x9 noted in the memo portion of your check. The donations can be mailed to the Mt. Morris Public Library at 105 S. McKendrie Ave., MountMorris, IL 61054.
