BYRON – On Sunday morning, Sept. 16, 2018, Daniel J. Edwards lost his long battle with depression and passed away at his home in Byron. Daniel was born on 13 July 1998 in DePaul Hospital, Norfolk, Va.

He was the youngest son of Ronald Lee Edwards (CDR, USN, Ret.) and Rosemarie Julia (Zund) Edwards and is survived by his parents, his brother Matthew Thomas Edwards (Byron), his sisters Sarah Teresa Edwards (Minneapolis, Minn.), Katherine (Sr. Lydia Marie) Edwards (Nashville, Tenn.), Rebecca Anne Edwards (Lexington, Mass.), his grandfather Josef Thomas Zund (Amherst, N.H.), and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Daniel is preceded in death by his grandfather Dale Everett Edwards, his grandmothers Bernice Alfrieda Edwards and Julia Marie Zund.

Like all of his siblings, Daniel was homeschooled by his parents through middle school. He subsequently attended Byron High School, graduating in June 2017. He attended classes at Kishwaukee Community College, working toward his General Auto Mechanic certification.  Daniel had quite a few hobbies, including working on cars, longboarding, and Scouting. He loved being involved in music, whether that was playing his guitar, marching with the band, or listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He was always on the lookout for his next adventure, most recently enjoying a road trip out west with his brother Matthew.

Daniel could always be relied upon to fill his family’s days with life and excitement. He was never one to be told what to do, and marched to the beat of his own drummer. He was a selfless person, with a good heart and a generous disposition. His Swiss heritage was important to him. Of all his siblings, he is the only one to spend the vast majority of his life in one place, living in the family home in Byron for 19 of his 20 years.

Daniel’s visitation was on Friday, Sept. 21 from 4:30-7 p.m., with a rosary to be said at 4 p.m. His funeral was on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. Both will be at St. Mary Catholic Church in Byron. All are welcome to join us in a celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the Rosecrance Health Network in Daniel’s name.  Visit www.farrellhollandgale.com to leave a condolence.
