Delores “Dee” Jean Hilliard

KINGS – Delores “Dee” Jean Hilliard, 87, of King, Wis., and formerly of Kings, died peacefully on June 5, 2018.

Dee was born on Feb. 19, 1931 in Elgin to Charles and Esther Anderson. She married Richard (Dick) Hilliard in a double wedding with her sister Jan and Jim Bennett in November of 1955.

The two sisters met Dick and Jim at a dance in Belvidere that April and it was love at first sight. 

After growing up in Elgin, Dee lived in rural Kings, Colorado and Wisconsin.

Dee was well known as a baker of pies, rolls and desserts. After her children were raised, Dee worked as a cook at NIU’s Lorado Taft Campus in Oregon.

She was also a gifted seamstress and delighted in maintaining a clean house. Helping others endeared her to all she came in contact with.

Dee is survived by her husband, Richard of King, Wis.; children, Kathy (Andy) Colbert of Oregon, Rich of Largo, Fla., and Rob of Tomah, Wis., grandchildren Blair and Jorie (Carlton) Getz, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; great-grandchildren Alexandria and Liliya Getz.

Dee is also survived by sister Jan Bennett of Mount Morris. She was preceded in death by siblings Howard and June.

Graveside services will be Aug. 17 at 1:00 pm at the King Veteran Cemetery, King, Wis.

After struggling for many years from complications of Parkinson’s Disease, Dee is at peace, smiling, talking and dancing to her heart’s content in heaven.
