OREGON – Donald Bruce McMillan, age 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Sept. 19, 2022. He was born Jan. 17, 1946, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Donald and Joyce (Brown) McMillan.
Bruce obtained his B.A. degree from SIU in Edwardsville. Bruce was an Original Equipment Manufacturer Sales Rep for Detroit Diesel, Ford, Kabota Engine Div. (Gen. Mgr.), and Caterpillar. He married Janet Streit Croegaert on May 5, 2002, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oregon. Bruce was an avid reader and loved to travel. He was known as a talker and loved to communicate with people, especially his grandchildren, always wanting to know what was going on in their lives. He loved to work on antique cars, especially his 1956 Oldsmobile 98, and liked attending car shows.
The most important priority in Bruce’s life was his relationship with Jesus. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oregon and the Ogle County Historical Society, where he volunteered, including doing the maintenance. He would also volunteer driving Lee County veterans to their medical appointments in Madison, Wis., and Hinsdale.
He was predeceased by his parents and his first wife, Vicki McMillan.
He is survived by his wife Janet McMillan of Oregon; daughter Andrea (Jim) Mitchell of North Port, Fla.; son Patrick (Stacie) McMillan of Robinson, Ill.; step-son Paul (Lisa) Hardy of Palatine, Ill.; brother Ross McMillan of Royse City, Texas; sisters Kathy McMillan and Elizabeth Swift of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren Zachary Mitchell, Rebecca Mitchell, and Victoria McMillan; step-grandchildren Brian, Mia, and Jason Hardy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
