SYCAMORE – Donald J. Finn, 83, of Sycamore, formerly of Oregon, died unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017 at Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb. He was born Sept. 2, 1934 in St. Louis, Mo., the son of John & Clara (Bernard) Finn.

He married Betty Lou Myers in East Los Angeles, Calif., on Aug. 21, 1953. Don retired in 1998 as vice-president of Scholle Corp of Northlake, Ill. He was a Boy Scout and also served as a Boy Scout Leader and earned the Order of the Arrow. As a member of the Oregon Lions Club, Don received the Melvin Jones Award. He was a member the Oregon United Methodist Church where he served on the Memorial Committee. For 8 years Don served on the Ogle County Housing Authority and at the same time was president of the Lost Lake Property Association. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Survivors include his wife Betty Lou; son, Jeffrey (Teresa Smith) Finn of Elgin; grandchildren, Justin Finn of Crystal Lake, Shannon (Christopher Bell) Finn of Elgin, and Nicholas Finn of Elgin; and great grandchildren, Noah and Xander Bell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Bessie, and brothers, Evan and Raymond.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at 2 p.m., preceded by visitation from 1-2 p.m., in the Oregon United Methodist Church, 200 S. 4th St., Oregon. Memorials may be directed to the church.
