Douglas J. Hildebrand

ROCKFORD – Douglas J. Hildebrand, 94, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022.  Born Nov.23, 1927, in Monroe Center, the son of Kenneth J. and Florence (Reeder) Hildebrand.

Douglas grew up and lived on farms his entire life. Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War and Purple Heart Recipient. He was a lifelong farmer. Douglas married Gladys Polson on Nov. 11, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rockford. She predeceased him on Sept. 21, 2002. He worked for Wallen Implement, Meridian Implements, Sandahl Farm Services and Rockford FS Stores. Douglas was a member of Mason 32nd Degree, and Shriner Honda Patrol – Dekalb County. He loved to go to antique tractors and toy shows.

Survived by children, Brenda Hildebrand, John (Cindy) Hildebrand, and Anita (Bobby) Laurent-Fields; grandchildren, Corina (Simon) Woby, Justeen (Tom) Scales, Melissa Byars, and Joshua (Taylor) Byars; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Mary-Shai, Ava, Talon and Kaleb; and sisters, Avis Hall and Pricilla “Pat” Kruger.  Also predeceased by his siblings, Eleanor, Charles, Irvin, Linda and Sharon; and son-in-law, Marc Laurent.  The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice.

Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford with Rev. Robert Melon from Monroe Center Community Church.  Visitation was from 12:30-1:15 p.m. prior to the service with Masonic Service to follow. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
