Emma S. Scerba

MT. MORRIS – Emma S. Scerba, 100, passed away on Jan. 6 at Serenity Hospice and Home. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 31, 1922 the daughter of Max and Elizabeth (Chovanec) Wittge. She worked in the binary department at Kable News in Mt. Morris for over 20 years. Emma was a longtime active member of the Mt. Morris Moose Club. She liked to travel and be in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. One of her favorite places to visit was the House on the Rock. Emma loved being outside, camping, and going out to eat. In her younger years she loved to roller skate at the Pines Roller Rink. She is preceded in death by her parents, sons, Terry Scerba and Richard Scerba, daughter, Marilyn Negley, brothers, Leroy Wittge, Mark Wittge, sister, Rosemary Merrill, and ex-husband, William Scerba. She is survived and missed by her daughter, Lauri (Harold) Johnson of Amboy; grandchildren, Jason Negley and Jill Johnson; great grandchildren, Aurora Burt, MaKayla Burt, Mason Engle and Michael Burt; and daughter-in-law, Lola Scerba. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 at the Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7thSt., Oregon. A memorial fund is established in her name.
