Emmalyn Ruth Spickler

OREGON – Emmalyn Ruth Spickler, age 80, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 at the Oregon Living & Rehab Center. She was born June 28, 1938, the daughter of Walter and Ruth (Carr) Jones.

She attended Oregon Schools and graduated from Mount Morris High School. She married Delbert E. Spickler on Feb. 16, 1957 in Mount Morris. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 2015. Emmalyn had formerly worked at the Oregon Sewing Factory, loved to crochet afghans for the residents at the Serenity Hospice and Home, and was known for her sugar cookies which she shared with everyone. Emmalyn served many families in the Oregon area as a babysitter for over 40 years. She was a member of the RiverStone Christian Church in Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Delbert, son Bradley, and 8 siblings.

 he is survived by her son Mike (Carol) Spickler and daughter Charlene (Todd) Ruthe all of Oregon, brother Len (Anne) Jones of Oregon, sister-in-law Darlene Jones, 3 grandchildren Craig (Jennifer) Spickler, Erin (Shawn) Gabbert, Kyle (Haley) Ruthe, 5 great grandchildren Ethan, Kennedy and Natalie Spickler, Logan and Emmalyn Gabbert, many nieces and nephews, and a special thank you to Clifford (Rhonda) Jones and Ron (Charolett) Young for all they did for Emmalyn. 

A memorial service was held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street, Oregon, with the Pastor Craig Arnold of the RiverStone Christian Church of Oregon officiating. Burial was in the Grand Detour Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday evening at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. A memorial fund is established for Unity Hospice of Rochelle.
