OREGON – Rock River Center in Oregon held a Retirement Open House on Wednesday, May 26 for Marcia Heuer and Mary Steele.

People from the community stopped by to wish them luck and to have cake and coffee.

“It’s a good time,” said Heuer, events coordinator and office assistant.

Heuer, who is a member of the Ogle County Board, has been with RRC for 11 years. As a master gardener and master naturalist, she said she hasn’t been able to spend any time in the summer in her garden.

“I’m going to stay home with my garden,” she said with a smile.

Steele, transportation coordinator and office assistant, has been with RRC for 9 years. She said she wants to spend her time helping local organizations.

“I want to get out and so some volunteering,” she said.
