Get ready for a painting party

Posted

MOUNT MORRIS – Encore! Mt. Morris is sponsoring a painting party July 27, 9 a.m.-noon or 9-2 depending on which size project you choose to paint.

All of the projects will look great in your yard, front door or porch!  Karen Hilliard will be teaching us how to make decorative signs or barn quilts in 16-inch square or 2-inch square sizes. No painting experience necessary. Twelve designs to choose from; registration requires you to select the design you want to make ahead of time so that materials can be prepared for you. See images of the 12 choices at http://www.facebook.com/encoremtmorris.  Some customization is possible, as well.

This event will be held at the Disciples United Methodist Church (handicap accessible) in Mount Morris. Cost is $25 to make the larger sign and $15 for the smaller one, thanks to the partial subsidizing of the fee by a grant Encore! received to help make art classes affordable to area enthusiasts. To reserve your seat, call Karen at 815-980-3867.

Following the painting party, attendees will be given the opportunity to enroll in a second class in which they can create their own designs, enlarge them and paint onto larger boards for placement on barns or other buildings. This second class will be taught by Rachel Oliver, Encore’s artist in residence and Jeff Bold in two evenings following the first class.
