EAST DUNDEE – Glen Elmer True, age 98, of East Dundee, died July 24, 2017 at Polo Rehab & Health Care Center. He was born Feb. 14, 1919 in Chicago, the son of Clarence and Violet True.
He was raised in Brookfield, and the family were members of the First Congregational Church of Brookfield. He graduated from Riverside Brookfield High School in 1936. On May 10, 1941 he married Dorothy Ehling in Brookfield. The couple moved to Algonquin around 1945 and lived in their same "little" home in East Dundee from 1950 - 2016. They were members of the Congregational Church of Algonquin for over 65 years. Glen was very proud of his designations of CLU and ChFC. He retired from New York Life Insurance in August of 1986 after over 30 years of service to NYL.
His passion for protecting families has been passed down to his Son Greg and Granddaughter Amy. He was “True”ly in love with his wife of 70 years; there was not a day that they were apart from one another from their retirement in 1986 until Dorothy’s death in September of 2011. He cherished each and every friendship and is known to so many as "Dad" or "Grandpa."
He is survived by, his three children Bruce (Pam) True, Greg (Karen) True, and Mark (Chris) True, 8 grandchildren, Amy (Alan) Flota, Kevin (Heidi) True, Jason (Renee) True, Tiffani (Tim) Smith, Tasha (Ron Sims) Strohecker, Matthew (Liz) True, Ty (Alexis) True, Brandon (Brittani) True, and 12 great grandchildren Claire, Rylin, Garrett, Brooklyn, Kennedy, Veronica, Gwendolyn, Kyle, Corey, Brady, Owen,  Carmen, Brody and Kenzie, Nephews Joseph, John and Robert Badal, Neices Karla (Badal) Ponder and Janice Badal-Humphreys, a special friend Sue Samuelson of Elgin, countless loving neighbors including a special helper in Jim Mertens of East Dundee.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy (Ehling) True along with a daughter in law Patricia (Mark) True and Sister Glyda (True) Badal.
Celebration of his long and wonderful life will be private.
