BYRON – Gordon E. Rose, 53, of Byron, passed away suddenly July 25, 2017 in Swedish American Hospital, surrounded by close family and friends. He was born April 1, 1964, in Rockford, the son of Michael Edward and Sharon Fay (Anderson) Rose.
Gordy married the love of his life and best friend, Suzanne Marie Dixon, Oct. 16, 1993 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Gordy founded Absolute Grinding & Manufacturing. Gordy was a member of Kishwaukee Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He was determined, driven and passionate, and was always trying to make everyone near him laugh. His love for others was vast but centered around his family. Gordy was a committed dad and constantly involved in his daughters’ lives. He coached his daughters in soccer and softball and devoted himself to the love of the game. He was in the stands for every game being their number one fan. Gordy saw many projects through, including the restoration of his 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner, receiving his private pilot license and dedicating himself to his physical fitness. He trained for Spartan races and loved to talk about his next race strategies. Gordy loved the outdoors and was a sponsor to many in recovery.
Gordy is loved and will be missed by his wife, Sue; two daughters, Anna and Megan Rose of Stillman Valley; his mother, Sharon Moore, Rockford; and sibling, Brad (Melissa) Poupard, Caledonia.
Predeceased by his father.
