Halloween StoryWalk a hit

Posted

OREGON – On Oct. 24 local children and their families enjoyed the Oregon Park District’s StoryWalk Trail event at Park West.

The Oregon Public Library inserted The 13 Nights of Halloween pages that families read and some sang the story to the tune of 12 Days of Christmas. Books are changed frequently, but if you missed it, The 13 Nights of Halloween will be featured in the StoryWalk through October.  Between some of the storybook pages participants were able to play some carnival games and win candy and prizes. Children and their parents then enjoyed a hayride to the Prairie at Park West to find the perfect pumpkin. After the ride, participants enjoyed getting photos taken, receiving a yummy cookie and pumpkin decorating kit to take home and transform their pumpkin into a work of art.

Earlier in the day, The Village of Progress came out to Park West for their own visit to the StoryWalk and to pick out a pumpkin. The consumers loved the experience, but their favorite was the hayride. The event was enjoyed by many families with lots of fun photos, which can be seen on the Oregon Park District Facebook page, capturing smiling faces, creative costumes, and family fun.

With the support of our sponsor, E.D. Etnyre, the Oregon Public Library, McDonalds, Subway, Jays, Casey’s, the great weather, and the volunteers, the event was fun for all. We look forward to many more fun activities and events and wish everyone a Happy and Safe Halloween.
