STILLMAN VALLEY – The Meridian Board has selected Heather Alderks to serve as the next activities director for Meridian CUSD 223.

This position came open when the current Activities Director, Mike Reagan, decided to re-locate out of state. Meridian had a number of qualified candidates internally and therefore did not open the position to outside applicants. The interview team consisted of community members, administrators, and coaches.Alderks universally impressed.

Superintendent PJ Caposey said that Alderks has been a personification of excellence in everything she has done as long-tenured Meridian employee.

“Heather was an excellent coach, she is an excellent teaching, and has demonstrated strong leadership in a variety of ways over the past several years,” Caposey said. “I could not be more excited to welcome her to the team.”

“After completing fourteen years as a physical education teacher at Meridian Jr. High School and twelve years coaching basketball at SVHS, I have created fond memories and strong relationships with students past and present,” Alderks said. “I will truly miss the day-to-day interactions with students in the classroom and playing field, but I am equally excited to carry on the rich traditions of our athletic and activity programs. As a proud alum and parent of two future Cardinals, I am eager in continuing to serve this great school district and community in a new capacity. I am confident we can build on the strong foundation already in place and take Cardinal Athletics and Activities to new heights!”
