BYRON – Irene Gorski, age 98 of Byron, and formerly of Polo, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at Generations at Neighbors Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing in Byron. She was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Dixon, the daughter of William and Loretta (Hannan) Penrose.

She attended St. Mary's Grade School in Dixon, then graduated from Dixon High School in 1938. She then attended Dixon School of Beauty.

Irene was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Polo, and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society when she lived there.

Irene married Paul Gorski Jan. 21, 1941 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon. He preceded her in death March 13, 1997.  She was also preceded in death by an infant great grandson Tyler James Mollway.

She is survived by two sons Bob (Sharon) Gorski of Austin, Texas, and William (Debra) Gorski of Dixon; four daughters Diann (Roger) Frison of Byron, Linda Farley of Racine, Wis., Carol (John) Stein of Dixon, and Paulette (Gene) Stoll of Byron; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon with the Rev. Keith Romke, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, from 4-7 p.m. in the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon with the Rosary recited at 3:30 p.m., and also on Saturday from 9:30-10:15 a.m. in the church.
