Jacklyn May (Tucker) Flick

LEAF RIVER – Jacklyn May (Tucker) Flick, aged 75, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 surrounded by her family. Jackie was born June 27, 1944 in Fitzsimmons Army Hospital, Denver, CO; daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Davis) Tucker. Growing up in Colorado, she graduated from South High School in Pueblo, Colo., class of 1961. Jackie then received her Education Major in 1964 from Truman University, Kirksville, Mo.

During her first teaching assignment, she met Michael Flick Sr, on the playground in Elizabeth, Ill. They later married, June 22, 1968, in Jefferson, Wis., relocating to Leaf River to start their family. Jackie taught school for 10 years but always thought her most important job was to be a stay at home mom and then Mimi to her grandchildren and many neighborhood kids, as well. 

Jackie was a staple in Leaf River, known as the Avon lady for over 40 years. She served on the Leaf River Village Board for 36 years, as well as the Leaf River Womens Fire Auxiliary. She was also a parishioner of St Marys Catholic Church, Bryon. Jackie was an avid animal lover and always had one of her dogs by her side. Her hobbies included; reading, sewing, gardening, golfing, shopping, traveling and playing cards. Her love for her grandchildren was boundless and her favorite pastime was watching them play sports and spending time with them. She will be missed.

Jackie is survived by her husband: Michael Flick Sr., Leaf River; children: Michael (Emily) Flick Jr., Leaf River, Nicki (Steve) Shelton, Leaf River, and Jeannine (Matt) Dempsey, Libertyville; grandchildren: Samantha (Nick) Boyden, Aaron Shelton, Bryce and Joshua Flick, Aiden and Taryn Dempsey.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, sister: Barbara Haines; and granddaughter: Mary Elizabeth.

Memorial services will be Aug. 2, 2021 at the River Valley Complex, Leaf River, from noon-4 p.m. All are welcome, please join us celebrating Jackie’s life.
