Jane Marie Baker

BYRON – Jane Marie Baker, age 60, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019 at Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon. She was born in Rockford on April 9, 1959 the daughter of Shelby and Shirley (Botten) Baker.

She graduated from Byron High School class of 1977. During her time there she was an excellent student and active in the speech club and National Honors Society. She then went on to Illinois Wesley University where she graduated in 1981. Jane was a member of Middle Creek Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, sewing, and cooking. She also enjoyed standard horse racing and helping at county fairs. Jane was interested in genealogy and a passionate member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Above all else, Jane loved her family and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents.

 Jane is survived by her siblings, Sam Baker of Sterling, Liz (Aaron) Guenther of Green Bay, Wis., and Valerie Ruhayel of Carmel, Ind.; nieces and nephews, Erin (Don) Kazel, Jacob Guenther, Samuel Guenther, Adam Ruhayel, and Jenna Ruhayel; and great nephew and niece, Keith Kazel and Amy Kazel.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 13 at noon at Middle Creek Church, 12473 Montague Rd, Winnebago, Illinois with Rev. Dr. Anita Stuart-Steva officiating. Visitation was held at the church from 11 a.m.-noon prior to the service. Burial followed at Middle Creek Cemetery. Memorials are established for Serenity Hospice and Home.
