STILLMAN VALLEY – Joseph Paul Harp, age 84, formerly of Roselle, died Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Serenity Hospice and Home near Oregon. He was born July 6, 1933 the son of Paul and Jennie (Grabowy) Harp. 

He married Shirlee Friedrick on Sept. 24, 1955 in Chicago. Joe worked 32 years for Clarke Equipment Co. as a forklift mechanic. He was a former President of the Early Ford V-8 Car Club of America Rockford Chapter. The family would be honored if those attending Joe’s visitation or service would drive their classic cars or wear John Deere, Farmall, or classic car apparel.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, half brother Art (Loretta) Savage, and infant sister Gloria, Uncle Henry Harp, Aunts Della, Wanda, and Eleanor, and Cousin Joyce Ehmke. 

He is survived by his wife Shirlee of Stillman Valley, 2 daughters: Sandra Jo (Michael) Loftus of St. Charles, IL and Janet (Dave) Weidner of Bartlett, 6 grandchildren: Ryan, Sean, and Shannon Loftus, Brendon (Jamie) Weidner, Heather (Ian) Olson, and Kyle Weidner, 6 great grandchildren: Dylan, Peyton, (their mother Jill Barone), Hudson, Collin, Kendall, and Harper, Aunt Pat Ayres, Cousins Ronnie (LaVerne) Wisniewski and Carol Ehmke. 

Funeral service was 11 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt Road in Stillman Valley, with the Priest Linda Meyer of the Community of Christ Church in Elgin, officiating. Visitation was Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home and also from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be in the Mouth of Stillman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is established in Joe’s name.
