Karen Lairmore Sheldon

OREGON – Karen Lairmore Sheldon, 66 of Oregon, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 in her home after a short battle with cancer. Her immediate family was fortunate to be with her during her peaceful passing. Karen was the daughter of Tommy Lairmore and Sybil (Wrigglesworth) Lairmore and was born Oct. 15, 1951 in McMinnville, Oregon.

Karen was a dedicated wife and mother and her two sons were her life. She had a gift for sewing and crafts and was a volunteer for the Quiet Quilters group at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oregon and also a member of that church. Karen had a passion for all animals and was extremely fond of horses.

Karen is survived by her husband Richard Sheldon, son Jason Sheldon of Kuwait and Patrick (Nicole) Sheldon of Loves Park. Also she is survived by her sisters Jane (Dave) Langdon, Debbie Calhoun, Donna (Tom) LeBlanc, Tammy (Dave) Lotspeich and Gail Lairmore all from the state of Oregon and Cindy (Gary) Arnette of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her father, Tommy, and her mother, Sybil.

Per Karen’s request there will be no visitation and cremation rights were performed by Finch Funeral & Crematory of Mount Morris. Karen also wanted her ashes returned to her home state of Oregon so family will honor that request. There will be a memorial service for Karen on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church at 764 N. Stillman Road Oregon, with a luncheon to follow at the church following the memorial service. Memorials can be made in Karen’s name to either Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.

Karen’s family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Nameer Mardini and the staff at the Swedish American Cancer Center. Also, the family thanks the staff at Heartland Hospice for their kind and compassionate care given to Karen.
