STILLMAN VALLEY – Leona A. Leber, age 87, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019.  She was born Oct. 2, 1931 in Rockford the daughter of LaMont and Abbie (Wiltfang) Williamson. 

She graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1949. Leona worked in the Human Resources Dept. at Rockford Drop Forge for 35 years. She married Edward Leber on May 25, 1970. He preceded her in Nov. 1994. Leona was a lifelong Stillman Valley area resident and a member of the Monroe Center Community Church where she was in the Ladies Guild of the church. She was a former girl scout leader and softball coach.  She loved to play cards, crochet, embroider, and do crafts. 

She was predeceased by her husband Edward and sister Carol Bennett. 

She is survived by her daughter Mardell (James, Sr.) Harms of Stillman Valley, 3 grandchildren, James “Jamie” (Kimberly) Harms, Jr. of Stillman Valley, Jason “Jay” (Tina) Harms of Bartlett, Ill., and Jennifer (Ty) Lichty of Monroe Center, 5 great grandchildren; Drew Harms, Luke Lichty, Hannah Harms, Lexi Lichty, and Brooke Baker (Bryan Alderson) and 2 great great grandchildren.

 The family would like especially thank the extended Harms family for always including Leona at their family functions, and also thank the people at San Gabriel in Rochelle for their friendship to Leona, and Thank Transitions Hospice for the loving care. 

Funeral service was at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019 at the Monroe Center Community Church with the Rev. Robert Mellon of the church officiating. Visitation was prior to the service at the church from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be in the Stillman Valley Cemetery. A memorial fund is established for the Monroe Center Community Church.
