OREGON – Lora J. Stone, 69, lifelong Oregon resident, passed peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020 in her home with her husband at her side following a short illness. Born April 25, 1950 in Freeport, the daughter of Lorrel and JoAnn (Cramer) Bruce.
Married to Richard Stone July 30, 1999 in Oregon. Lora attended St. Mary Catholic Elementary School in Oregon and graduated from Oregon High School in 1968. She worked in Oregon dental offices for 52 years, starting with Dr. Wade and finishing with Dr. Harunani prior to retiring. Lora was an avid reader, enjoyed word puzzles and was always a great “Big Sister” to her siblings.
Survived by her husband, Dick Stone of Oregon; step-father, Robert Spratt of Oregon; sons, Jon Stone of Florida and Josh (Michelle) Stone of Dixon; daughters, Janet Ervin of Herrin and Wendy (Rob) Smice of Oregon; grandchildren: Michael, Christopher, Lauren, Colin, Hannah, Chelsea, Kelsey, Angel, Ethan and Emersyn; 2 great grandchildren; sisters: Debbie (Denny) Kelly, Lynn (Dave) Shank, Dory (Joe) Palmer, Carol Wig and Jo (Mike) Merrill, all of Oregon and Jane (Ron) Griswald of Nachusa; and special friends, Cindi Gelander and Dawood Harunani.
Predeceased by her parents; son, Jim Stone; and daughter, Kelley Stone.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon preceded by a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. Special thanks are extended to Serenity Hospice for their care of Lora.
