OREGON – Margaret Jane Neuliep, 91, formerly of Rochelle passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. Margaret was born on June 26, 1927 to John B. and Mary L. (Hoover) Robertson in Oregon.
She married Mark Himes on Oct. 2, 1949 in Oregon. He preceded her in death in 1975. She married William J. Neuliep on August 14, 1977 in Rochelle, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2017.
In addition to her parents, she is also predeceased by her son, David Himes; son-in-law, Richard Meyer; brother, Bruce Robertson; sister and brother-in-law, Harriet (Robert) Thibault and brother-in-law, Bernard Martin.
Margaret retired as the head of food service for Oregon School District #220. She was a member of the Oregon VFW, First Presbyterian Church of Rochelle, and the Garden Club. She was also a member of several bridge clubs and an avid golfer.
Margaret is survived by her children: Franklin Himes of Oregon, and Libby Meyer of Byron; two step children: Janice (Steve) Fry of Concord, N.C. and James Neuliep of Depere, Wis.; two grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 7 step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann (Bill) Becker of Oregon, and Dorothy Martin of Hebron, Ind.; and a sister-in-law, Claudia Robertson Oregon.
A celebration of life was held at 11 a.m., on Friday, April 5, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1100 Calvin Road, in Rochelle with Rev. Dr. James Tilley and Pastor Doug Forsberg officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be private at a later date in Riverview Cemetery in Oregon. Contributions in Margaret’s memory may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church of Rochelle.
