MOUNT MORRIS – Marian L. Carpenter, age 87, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 at the Pinecrest Manor in Mount Morris.  She was born Nov. 19, 1932 in Sterling, the daughter of Cloyd E. and Marvel (Kramer) Kendell, Sr. 

She graduated from Sterling High School in 1950 and then attended 1 year of Beautician School.  Marian worked for 30 years as a beautician from her home in Dixon and also at Bernice Zimmerman’s Beauty Shop in Sterling. She also worked for 10 years at Quebcor in Mount Morris and 15 years at the Oregon Health Care Center as a CNA. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oregon where she sang in the choir. She also sang with the Sweet Adeline’s group. 

Marian married Terry Carpenter on Sept. 28, 1985 in Grand Detour. He preceded her in 2002.

She was also predeceased by her parents and son Gary Camling and siblings; Grace Handel, Murrell Kendell, Melvin Kendell, Anita Jean Gallagher, Roy Kendell, Kenneth Kendell, Wayne Kendell, Darlene Kendell, Robert Kendell, Roberta Doss, Vernon Kendell, Cloyd Kendell, Jr., and Don Kendell. 

She is survived by her son Jeff Camling of South Dakota, 4 Grandchildren; Amy  (Brent) Wolber, Nathan (Joni) Camling, Dane Camling, Kristyn (Anthony) Camling-DiFulvio, 2 daughter-in-laws Lynnel and Brenda Camling, 11 great Grandchildren; Dustin, Jessica, Brook, Ashley, Sarah, Tyler, Amanda, Leonardo, Vincent, Avianna, and Roman, sister Barb Travis, 3 brothers; Gordon (Aimee) Kendell, Allen (Colombia) Kendell, and Irvin (Sharon) Kendell, step daughter Carol (Jeff) Dees, step son Mark (Barb) Carpenter, 4 step granddaughters; Jaycie, Halie, Savannah, and Shelby.

Funeral service was at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon, with the Rev. Rodney R. Caldwell Chaplin of the Pinecrest Manor officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Egan Cemetery.
