DAVIS JUNCTION – Mary Ann Hopkins, age 80, died Friday, June 7, 2022 peacefully at her home in Davis Junction surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 25, 1941 in Rockford, the daughter of Gordon F. and Iris (Strang) Hopkins.
She attended Davis Junction Grade School, graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1959, and OSF Nursing School. She then worked for OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Mary worked over 40 years as a nurse and the last 30 years as County Coordinator of 7 counties for the Public Health Department in Minot, N.D. Mary Ann was a member of the Davis Junction United Methodist Church. She loved to garden, read history books, and attended Bible study groups. She often would volunteer for charity work and was an avid supporter of The Child Fund where she sponsored children for most of her life. She also supported Mt. St. Francis in Dubuque, Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her parents and special friend Sister Rita Thier.
She is survived by her brother Gordon F. (Debbie) Hopkins of Stillman Valley, and sister Diana Hubele of Davis Junction, niece Christy Hopkins, nephew Ryne Hopkins, great nephew Aiden, and her dog Maxx.
Funeral service was 11 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Stillman Valley, with the Pastor Keith Kelsey-Powell of the Davis Junction United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Big Mound Cemetery near Davis Junction.
