OREGON – Mary Louise Smith, 86, of Oregon passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017 while at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 30, 1931 in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Clifton and Launa (Daugherty) Jackson.
Louise was a 1948 graduate of West High School in Akron, Ohio, and married Frederick Smith Nov. 13, 1948 in Akron. Louise was active in her community as a volunteer for the Village of Progress, an active member of Oregon United Methodist Church, the PEO, and member of the Red Hat Club. Louise was an extraordinary, mother, chef and homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Fred of Oregon; her daughter, Linda (Ron) Zajak of Akron, Ohio, sons, Bill (Paula) Smith, Edward (Sue) Smith, and Freddie (Kristi Knaak) Smith, all of Oregon; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Oregon United Methodist Church with Pastor Thomas Kim officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Oregon. Visitation was held Friday from 5-7:30 p.m. in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th St., Oregon and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or OSF Hospice.
